Über die Jahre hat sich Kolt Siewerts seine Stellung in der rheinischen Drum & Bass-Szene mit Skills und guten Vibes erarbeitet. Seine 1998 gestarteten Wednesdaybreaks-Abende im Düsseldorfer Unique trugen nicht umsonst den Titel “Bolzplatz“: Fallrückzieher, Sonnenschein und Kopfballtor machen eben mehr Spaß als Donnerschlag, Schrottplatz und brennende Müllonnen. Fröhlich ohne cheesy zu sein, fett ohne Düsterkeit.

Das brachte ihm im Sommer 2006 den Meisterpokal der Deutschen Drum & Bass Bundesliga ein. In einem packenden Battle gegen die Bremer Mannschaft konnte sich Siewerts den Sieg in diesem jährlich ausgetragenen DJ-Wettstreit sichern.

Nachdem Siewerts ab 2000 Teil des alteingesessenen Kölner Label basswerk war, führte seine Moderation der Webshow “brokenbeatz tv” auf vivaplus.tv und das Betreiben der Website “drumandbass.de” ihn neben diversen Auftritten in Europa auch in die USA.

Dort spielte er zusammen mit Haudegen wie Total Science überwiegend deutsche Produktionen und hat den Gangstern gezeigt, wo der Hammer hängt.

4 Jahre später wurde es dann Zeit, auf eigenen Beinen zu stehen. Mit seinem Homie J-Cut gründete Siewerts die PLAY!-Crew. Es folgten monatliche Veranstaltungen mit großen europäischen Namen im altehrwürdigen Kölner Stadtgarten.

Seit 2007 finden die monatlichen PLAY! – Parties mit dem Motto “Spass mit Bass” im Keller des Stadgartens statt, das Studio 672 liefert mit seinem Reggae-erprobten Soundsystem immer noch den besten Sound der Stadt.

Nach mehreren Produktionen – ua. mit The Green Man, dem Phoneheads-Produzenten Michael Scheibenreiter und seinem Kollegen J-Cut – folgte Ende 2008 der Ritterschlag:

Die User der größten deutschen Drum & Bass Website future-music.net wählten den Track “The Flute Tune” von J-Cut und Kolt Siewerts zum besten nationalen Release 2008.

Over the last 10 years Siewerts has gained some reputation in Germany with his skills and friendly vibes. You won’t find yourself dancing to tunes that make you wish you had a better childhood on his sets. Rocking fat tracks from the sunny side of the underground without too much liquid cheese: Siewerts knows how to push crowds to a higher level.
In 1999 Siewerts met his brother-in-mind J-Cut and they realized that they had to do something to push german drum & bass artists. With the website www.drumandbass.de they soon started to feature all the important producers and djs in order to spread the word of fine german productions all over the world.
At the same time Siewerts became part of one of Germany’s most important drum & bass labels: basswerk. Together with the drum & bass pioneers The Green Man and Cheetah he ran the cologne-based label that is known for its deep and tight releases of artists like Klute, Ufo & Sage, Daniel Savine & Rio, Giana Brothers and The Green Man.
In 2002 Siewerts was asked to host the internet show Broken Beatz TV on Germany’s biggest music channel VIVA. The idea behind the show was to bring the biggest names in German drum & bass together and to provide the fans with fresh live mixes every week. After nearly two successful years the show was canceled in early 2004 and VIVA was sold to MTV.
Looking for new tasks, Siewerts and J-Cut split from basswerk and founded the PLAY!-Crew. Until today they bring some of the biggest names from the world of drum & bass to play in the nicest clubs of Cologne.
Besides throwing parties in Cologne, Siewerts is also busy touring Germany, Europe and the USA and producing with his mates from the Phoneheads. Well known for their 4 drum & bass albums, Siewerts teamed up the their producer Michael Scheibenreiter and formed the “bolzplatz productions”. Due in 2006 are some rinsin’ tracks which will be released on various labels, keep your eyes open!
